Updates on my little ones

It’s been a crazy week. Fast version: developed preeclampsia last Wednesday, admitted to hospital, delivered Micah and Josiah at 34 weeks via C section Friday morning, stayed in hospital until Tuesday. Discharged but had to leave my little ones in the NICU.

Torturous.

I’ve spent every day at the NICU spending time with my little babes. I spend all day with them, and then come home and cry most of the night because I miss them. I know that they are getting the care they need as preemies but it’s really upsetting to give birth and then go home without the ones you gave birth too. I’m sorry, I’m just being honest about how I feel.

I feel SO incredibly blessed to have two gorgeous little boys. I just want them to be with us already. Tomorrow they will be one week old.

Micah is doing really well. He only has a feeding tube attached and is at room air. I can bottle feed him and have been giving him exposure to my b every day. Both boys drink my bm solely, I pump every three hours and they are fed with it, which makes me happy. Micah will most likely come home first. Here’s a pic of my little one while I was burping him:

He has a head full of hair! For the most part, he is comfortable and meeting milestones daily.

Josiah on the other hand, is taking a bit longer. He came out smaller and a bit more distressed because of his position and how they had to get him out. He had liquid in his lungs and is being treated with antibiotics. His lungs have been sounding better every day. He was also having more difficulty with his breathing (lungs not as developed) so they have been treating him for that as well. Now he is breathing more comfortably and doesn’t have as much tubing stuck in his little nose. He is fed through tube solely over a two hour period because he has trouble digesting (thank God it has gotten a lot better as well). Can’t wait to be able to bottle feed him and ultimately breast feed him. Here is a pic of him from yesterday:

This is his “why so serious?” face. I was so happy I got to study Josiah’s little face yesterday! I love how unique each of them look like! Micah has a little round peanut head and Josiah has a little round almond head. Micah has a head full of hair, Josiah came out more patchy like me when I was a baby! I’m still trying to figure out who looks like me lol.

Here is one of my favorites. My husband holding little Micah’a hand.

A picture of me with the two of them! This was before they removed Josiah’s CPap (the crazy looking breathing tubes in his nose). My favorite nurse made this pic happen 🙂

I was really happy to spend lots of cuddling time with Josiah yesterday. He was loving it and he was so attentive. Unfortunately, when he went back in his little cubby he was crying and crying and couldn’t be calmed. I felt awful. I know it can’t be fun to be hooked up to things 🙁 he finally fell asleep and seemed okay after that.

I’m heading over in a couple of hours. Took this morning to get some rest in and heading over to see my babies in a couple of hours.

Good news – last nights report came back well! Both babies had a great night and they are going to increase Josiah’s feeding as well and hopefully they will be removing more of the tubing from my little almond!

Anyways, please keep my little ones in prayer and in your thoughts! Keep me in prayer too 🙂

So precious!! i am glad that they are getting better and healthier each day. I’m sorry it’s so hard though. I can’t even imagine what it must be like. Take care of yourself, of each other, and of those little boys.
